Overall Goals:
​To advocate for and support all stakeholders of the Newton Public Schools Community (Students, Parents, Teachers, Professional Support Personnel, Administrators) to work together for educational excellence.

Inspiring Student Learning and Growth

• Advocate high expectations for all students regardless of background or level in school
• Focus on a whole student: academic, social and emotional learning;
• Support programs that expand learning: e.g., full-day kindergarten and more rigorous courses for middle and high schools;

Providing Support for Teachers and Strengthening Teaching Quality

• Advocate effective teaching and high-quality professional development for all faculty members
• Recruit and retain quality teachers of diversified backgrounds to enrich the teaching staff
• More data informed evaluation of teaching quality and increased support for professional improvement

Promoting Effective Communication between Families and Schools

• Support and enhance the communication channels between families and schools
• Seek fund to support district-wide family resources/welcome services, particularly for new and immigrant families
• Provide platforms and opportunities for concerned families and parents to participate in school-wide policy making process

Oversight of the District Leadership and Fiscal Management

• Proactive oversight of the superintendent's performance and evaluation
• Take the district's fiscal responsibility seriously with an open mind to all educational needs
• Seek the community's input on the district's long-term strategic planning

Enhancing Learning Environment and Facilities

• Support the district's ongoing infrastructure renovation and expansion
• Invest intelligently in upgrading the learning technologies and educational facilities
• Safeguard the district's safe and healthy learning environment
